Over P3 million worth of illegal drugs and assorted firearms were seized and 411 suspects were arrested in Western Visayas from September 4 to 10.

Major Grace Borio, spokesperson for the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6), in an interview yesterday, said of the 411 arrested individuals, 201 were “wanted and most wanted persons,” 127 were illegal gambling suspects, 68 were drug suspects, and 15 were gun ban violators.

“We have 52 drug operations and arrested 68 drug personalities. We have drug recoveries to include 514.278 grams of shabu worth P3.497 million and 15 grams of marijuana,” she said.

Meanwhile, 140 assorted firearms and 20 explosives were surrendered or recovered during the focused operations dubbed “Birada Semana.”

However, compared with last month’s accomplishment, the number of operations was lower, particularly on confiscated drugs and surrendered and recovered firearms, Borio said.

Last month’s Birada Semana yielded over P22.28 million worth of suspected shabu; 111 drug personalities, 243 wanted and most wanted persons, and 147 for illegal gambling arrested; while 173 firearms and 24 explosives were recovered or surrendered.

She said a huge volume of drugs was seized a week before the focused operations, so the drug supply could have already been depleted. (PNA)
