There were no casualties recorded in Negros Occidental during the almost three-day heavy rains experienced in the province brought by the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” which was further exacerbated by Typhoon “Goring.”
Based on the situational report issued by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC), there were zero deaths, injuries and missing persons in the province as of 11:00 a.m. yesterday.
However, the number of affected Negrenses has climbed to 103,922 individuals or 31,894 families.
At least 141 villages across 16 cities and municipalities were affected.
The PDRRMC also recorded five areas flooded and five landslides induced by the heavy rains.
A total of 24 homes in Negros Occidental were destroyed, while 67 suffered extensive damage.
Two roads and a bridge were not passable during the height of the heavy rains.
Authorities are now trying to determine the cost of damage brought by the torrential rains./DGB, WDJ
