A farmer was shot to death by unidentified gunmen inside his nipa hut at Barangay Bantayanon’s Sitio Bandera in Negros Occidental’s Calatrava town on Thursday, August 24.

Police identified the victim as 58-year-old Vicente Daniel, a resident of the said village.

Major Ronald Santillan, town police chief, said Daniel’s wife had discovered him dead.

Police are looking into a land dispute as a possible motive behind the killing, as the victim received a threat over a land conflict two months ago.

Santillan said they would also investigate if someone had grudges against the victim./WDJ
