A man was killed, while his wife was injured after their tricycle accidentally collided with a bus along the national highway at Barangay 13 in Negros Occidental’s Victorias City on Sunday afternoon, August 20.

Police identified the fatality as 25-year-old Elf Sanipa, while the injured was 29-year-old Jenalyn Navaro. Both are residents of Bacolod City.

Police Major Joy Ellaga, Victorias police station’s public information officer, said the tricycle was heading northbound to Manapla town.

The bus, driven by 49-year-old Lemuel Fajardo, was heading to Calatrava town.

Police said Sanipa lost control of the tricycle, went to the inner lane and accidentally collided with the bus.

In a now viral video, a doctor, who was traveling to Victorias City for a vacation, stopped by and tried to help an unconscious Sanipa by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation in an effort to revive him.

However, Sanipa died enroute to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Navaro was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod.

Navaro’s leg had to be amputated due to injury.

Fajardo was immediately detained by police./DGB, WDJ
