A drug suspect, who had previously served time for illegal drugs in 2012, was arrested again at Purok Pablo Torre in Bacolod City’s Barangay Vista Alegre over the weekend.

Police identified the arrested as 57-year-old Alfredo Aplasca Jr., a resident of the said place.

Authorities confiscated a total of 153 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1,040,000.

Police Captain Joven Mogato, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO)-City Drug Enforcement Unit head, said their investigation revealed Aplasca had connections with Michael Frias, who was arrested in the same place last August 10, with P14.3 million worth of suspected shabu.

Frias was allegedly a member of the Caunda Drug Group.

Aplasca is now facing new charges for illegal drugs, and undergoing tactical interrogation to determine where he is getting his supply of illegal drugs.

Earlier, BCPO director, Police Colonel Noel Aliño said they are expecting bigger confiscations ahead of the MassKara Festival.

Aliño believes the recent high value confiscations are signs that drug dealers have already begun piling supplies of illegal drugs in the city, as they will become in demand during the festivities.

He added that he ordered police commanders and anti-drug operatives to prioritize targeting high-value individuals (HVIs), or those he personally called “the roots.”

The city police director said if HVIs are caught, the supply flow of illegal drugs will also be disrupted./DGB, WDJ
