A 60-year-old man got injuries after he was mauled at Barangay Balintawak in Negros Occidental’s Escalante City on Thursday afternoon, August 17.

The victim was identified as Ermie Agustin, a resident of the city’s Barangay Sitio Proper, while the suspect was 31-year-old Novem Longakit, a resident of the said locality.

City police said the victim was riding his tricycle along Jose Abad Santos Street, and stopped to answer a phone call in front of the suspect’s house.

Without any reason, the suspect approached and allegedly mauled the victim until he unconsciously fell on the ground.

Agustin suffered injuries to different parts of his body.

He was rushed to Vicente Gustilo District Hospital for treatment.

The suspect was in the custody of the local police station./MS, WDJ
