The Bacolod City government has given three city barangays five days to liquidate the funds for their participation in the Electric MassKara Dance Competition last year.
Councilor Jason Villarosa, Sangguniang Panlungsod’s chair of the committee on tourism, disclosed there were three villages that have yet to liquidate the funds.
He said Barangay 16 was among the villages, according to the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation, the festival’s organizer.
The two other barangays have yet to be determined.
Meanwhile, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said the barangays would not be allowed to participate in the festival’s dance contest this year if they fail to liquidate the financial aid.
“Kun indi sila kahingagaw mag-liquidate, indi na sila pwede ka-join,” Villarosa said.
Last year, 17 city barangays participated in the street dance and arena competition, and each was provided a P200,000 subsidy; while 15 barangays joined the Electric MassKara dance competition, and were given P150,000 each.
Benitez said for this year’s MassKara Festival, the city has decided to limit the participants to 10 for the street dance and arena competition and to increase the amount of the financial assistance./MS, WDJ
