The Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) is closely monitoring the price of meat and poultry products being sold in various markets in the province.
Based on a report forwarded to Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, PVO head Dr. Placeda Lemana said there was an increase in the average prices of beef, pork and chicken.
Lemana reported that the price of beef has increased to P3.20 per kilo, while pork is at P1.94 per kilo.
The price of chicken meat increased by P2.60 per kilo.
Lemana said carabao meat or “carabeef” sold in Escalante City is currently at P470, the highest selling price in the province, while the lowest price was at P190 in Don Salvador Benedicto town.
The price of beef sold in Escalante is also the highest at P475, while Pulupandan town has the lowest price at P295.
Pork sold in La Carlota City is at P295, while Hinigaran has the lowest price at P195.
Calatrava town has the highest buying price for liveweight hogs at P150 per kilo.
Meanwhile, eggs are being sold at P7.40 for small, P8.09 for medium, P8.91 for large, and P9.91 for extra large./DGB, WDJ
