Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez ordered the City Legal Office (CLO) to form an “impartial team” to conduct an investigation into the commotion during the demolition of 32 houses along Mambulok creek in the city’s Barangay 2 on July 28.
Benitez said the CLO will conduct an investigation so that they will understand what really happened during the commotion.
The mayor said the commotion video, posted by a local radio station’s Facebook page, did not show the full incident.
“Bati-an ta nga ang video may kulang. So para wala issue, we will have an impartial team that will investigate kun ano gid ang natabo and we will act accordingly,” Benitez said.
“I would like to see the circumstances before that,” he added.
He added enforcement teams should exercise maximum tolerance.
There has to be a way to deal with this, he added.
Earlier, Demisana and Police Staff Sergeant Lan Elec Demafelis filed a complaint at the city prosecutor’s office through an inquest proceeding against Junjun Meniao, a resident of Barangay 6, for the charges of light threats, resistance and disobedience to an agent of a person of authority.
CLO head, Romeo Carlos Ting, Jr. said he received information that Meniao’s camp would be filing a countercharge against City Enforcement Team (CET) head Rey Demisana.
The commotion was reported to Police Station 2, where Demisana complained that he was allegedly challenged and threatened by Meniao.
