A rider died after his motorcycle had been sideswiped by a sports utility vehicle in Bacolod City’s Barangay Mansilingan on Sunday morning, July 16.

Police Captain Andy Ofalia, Police Station 7 chief, said 27-year-old Ruel Basa Jr., a resident of Negros Occidental’s Valladolid town, succumbed to wounds on different parts of his body. 

He was rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

Police said the vehicle, driven by 58-year-old Guglielmo Somcio, Jr. of Bago City’s Barangay Ma-ao, allegedly sideswiped Basa’s motorcycle.

Somcio is handed over to the custody of Police Station 7.
