Four minors were rescued after they were being used for cybersex at Espinos Village 2 in Bacolod City’s Barangay Taculing on Friday night, July 14.
The Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Western Visayas conducted an entrapment operation against the minors’ parents, suspects 28-year-old Mary Rose Maribao Campaner and 35-year-old Romy Librando Ligid, residents of the said place.
BCPO director, Police Colonel Noel Aliño said at around 6:20 p.m., the WCPD, in coordination with the Women and Children Protection Center-Visayas Field Unit, BCPO served a search warrant and entrapment operation against the suspects, after receiving information that their children were being used for cybersex.
The warrant was issued by Judge Fernanda Castro of Bacolod City Regional Trial Court Branch 61.
Authorities rescued a nine-year-old girl, a six-year-old boy, and two-year-old twins, and recovered three mobile phones, a pocket wi-fi, and an unserviceable laptop.
They also seized a passport, identification cards and assorted receipts from the suspects.
Meanwhile, Police Captain Christine Cerbo, WCPD officer-in-charge, said the children were allegedly being used for cybersex, wherein they were being told to show their private parts online in exchange for money.
The two suspects are in the custody of the city police.
They could face charges for violating the Republic Act (RA) 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act; RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act; and RA 9975 or the Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2009./DGB, WDJ
