The Bacolod City government delisted the caterer which allegedly served spoiled food during the State of the City Address (SOCA) of Mayor Alfredo Aberlardo Benitez on July 5.
Joseph Chiu, Benitez’s secretary, said the caterer may no longer be allowed to do business with the city government.
Chiu added the caterer, one of the four others that served food during the event, apologized to Benitez during a press conference where they had to provide an explanation.
They also promised to reach out to those who were affected by the spoiled food.
However, the caterer asserted that their food was not spoiled and may have been affected by the hot weather.
In a statement yesterday, the caterer formally apologized over the incident.
“The same was never intended, and we will continue to extend our gesture and willingness to personally hear from you to know more about what really happened,” the caterer said.
“We never wanted to put in jeopardy the business that not only caters to the public but also provides for the livelihood and food for the families,” it added.
It was reported that some guests claimed that the lengua served was spoiled and they suffered stomach aches./WDJ
