The Paglaum Sports Complex in Bacolod City will soon undergo renovation works to improve its facilities.

Negros Occidental provincial administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz said they are planning to begin work at the Paglaum this year, so that it can be used by students from the Negros Occidental High School and for hosting other school activities and sporting events for youth development.

Diaz said the sports complex suffered extensive damage during the onslaught of Super Typhoon “Odette” in 2021.

Some portions have since been repaired for hosting important events.

The Paglaum Sports Complex hosted the MassKara Festival’s dance competition in October last year.

Diaz said aside from repairing or improving the damaged parts of the Paglaum Sports Complex, the province also plans to build a well-equipped sports facility, such as a basketball court that can be used by students.

Currently, the Provincial Engineer’s Office is finalizing the plan to improve the area, making it presentable and suitable for various events in the province.

Moreover, the Bacolod City government also plans to collaborate with the province to use the venue as one of the locations for this year’s MassKara Festival.

Considering the timeline for the renovation of the Paglaum Sports Complex and the celebration of the MassKara Festival this year, the province will adjust the renovation schedule to avoid conflicts./DGB, WDJ
