The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Bacolod is asking the Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs and the Department of Social Services and Development to conduct an investigation of the alarming proliferation of spurious and fake person with disability and senior citizen identification cards (IDs).

Councilor Jason Villarosa said the SP passed a resolution on Thursday, June 29, after learning that a rise of counterfeit IDs had been observed.

He explained that only IDs issued from the said government agencies are the only vested with authority to issue such legal documents honored by establishments in the city.

“Such falsification of public documents will have a deep and long impact which is inimical to the economy of this capital city,” Villarosa said.

He added that such cards shall only be used for legitimate purposes to alleviate the situation of these bonafide cardholders.

Villarosa explained that an investigation is proper to curtail such activities and put perpetrators under the law./MS, WDJ
