A man was found dead at a sugarcane field at Barangay Sag-ang in Negros Occidental’s La Castellana town on Monday, June 26.

Jopoeny Morata, 50 years old, a resident of the place, was already in a state of decomposition, police said.

He was identified by his live-in partner, Auring Callosa.

An initial police investigation showed that Morata went home drunk on June 23.

He created alarm and scandal and a heated argument ensued between his stepsons, Jay-R and Winnie Callosa, when they tried to pacify him.

The victim left their house and returned at 10:45 p.m.

However, another heated argument happened.

Morata was later discovered dead in the plantation, police said./WDJ
