Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, Police Colonel Noel Aliño said he wants all repeat drug offenders in the city to be monitored.

This comes after the BCPO seized an estimated P5.44 million worth of suspected shabu from a drug suspect who had already been previously jailed for a drug offense.

Aliño said it is time to put an end to such practices.

He also wants connections and potential protectors of drug personalities to be identified.

Aliño noted that most of the apprehended individuals in the drug trade have previously been incarcerated, but were released due to dismissed cases.

Some engaged in illegal drug activities again.

The BCPO chief also assured that even if he leaves Bacolod, he will continue to monitor drug cases closely.

On Sunday, June 18, 26-year-old Rene Lapera, Jr. was nabbed during a drug buy-bust operation in the city’s Barangay Pahanocoy by the BCPO’s Police Station 8 and Police Regional Office in Western Visayas.

Ten large heat-sealed plastic sachets and seven knot-tied plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing around 800 grams were confiscated from the suspect./DGB, WDJ
