The Roselyn Jean Pelle Command of the New People’s Army (NPA) has claimed responsibility for the murder of a farmer in Negros Occidental’s Calatrava town on June 10.

According to NPA’s claims, slain farmer 41-year-old Jomarie Nabeses, a resident of the town’s Barangay Cambayobo, was a military intelligence asset, who was responsible for a raid which resulted in the death of an NPA member in 2010.

The NPA further claimed that Nabeses provided information to government troops about the whereabouts of Felix Susas, Jr. and his companions, which led to their arrest last year.

Information from the Philippine Army showed Susas was the commander of the SYP Platoon and secretary of the NPA’s Northern Negros Front.

Susas was also implicated as a suspect in the killings of Renator Estrebillo on August 12, 2022, in Barangay Marcelo; and Barangay Captain Benjamin Javoc on August 26 of the same year.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Army has denied Nabeses was their asset.

Calatrava police said Nabeses was working in his rice fields when he was shot several times./DGB, WDJ
