A man died after a solar panel from a lamp post fell on him at Barangay Sta. Cruz’s Hacienda San Ramon in Negros Occidental’s Murcia town on Sunday, June 4.

Police identified the fatality as 21-year-old John Paul Gayle of Bacolod City’s Barangay Alijis.

Gayle was allegedly one of the individuals that might have been involved in stealing solar panels, Sta. Cruz village chief Boy Gravino said.

There has been a series of solar-powered lamps stolen in the village, he said.

A total of 14 solar lamps have been stolen by still unidentified individuals.

Residents have already complained of a darker pathway, especially those who go home at night, Gravino said./WDJ
