An alleged robber ended up with several bruises all over his body after he was mauled at Barangay Poblacion in Negros Occidental’s Escalante City on Monday morning, May 29.
Police identified the arrested as 21-year-old Frances Cañete, a resident of the village’s Sitio Guianon.
Based on information released by Escalante City police, at around 1:00 p.m., Cañete broke inside a property owned by brothers Jordan and Novem Guinanao.
The suspect allegedly stole two roosters from the cages.
However, he was spotted by James Alegato, the brothers’ friend, who immediately alerted the owners.
Cañete attempted to escape but he was cornered by residents who mauled him repeatedly before being handed over to the village officials and to the police.
