 A man was injured after he was allegedly hacked at a birthday party.

Alpel Lugay, 32 years old, of Barangay Paghumayan in Negros Occidental’s Calatrava town, was allegedly stabbed by 47-year-old Laurencio Bogias.

The incident occurred at 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 28 in the town’s Barangay Malatas.

Police said the victim was attending a birthday party of the suspect’s brother.

For no apparent reason, Bogias stabbed the victim using a cane cutter (espading) several times, hitting the back portion of his head and left forearm, the police report said.

Lugay was rushed to Calatrava Municipal Hospital for treatment, and later referred to Silay City Provincial Hospital.

The suspect is still at-large, police said./MS, WDJ
