A village councilman died on the spot after he was gunned down by alleged robbers inside his home at Barangay Dancalan in Negros Occidental’s Ilog town early yesterday morning, May 25.

Police identified the fatality as 60-year-old Joselito Magallanes.

Ilog police chief, Major Joseph Partidas, said a burglary incident took place at a store beside Magallanes’ house.

Partidas said barangay tanods immediately responded to the scene but found Magallanes lying on the ground with a gunshot wound in the head.

The police already have a person of interest after several witnesses identified the suspects.
