Anti-drug teams have arrested three suspects and seized a total of P1.5 million worth of suspected shabu in three separate buy-busts on Wednesday, May 24, in Bacolod City and in the northern city of San Carlos in Negros Occidental, the police reported yesterday.

At around 7:50 p.m., Ma. Theresa Mendoza, 45 years old, was arrested by operatives of Police Station 5 of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in Barangay 29’s Purok Cadena de Amor.

The suspect, considered a street-level individual, transacted with undercover police, who purchased a small sachet of the suspected prohibited substance.

Mendoza also yielded two big and five small sachets of suspected shabu, weighing about 15 grams, worth P100,000, along with drug paraphernalia, including an improvised tooter and a disposable lighter.

Earlier, at past 1:00 p.m., personnel of the BCPO-City Drug Enforcement Unit apprehended Jeo Tongoy, 21 years old, in Barangay 2’s Purok Sigay.

Tongoy, a high-value individual, sold a sachet of the suspected prohibited substance worth P1,000 to a poseur-buyer.

Operatives also recovered from his possession 16 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 106 grams valued at P720,800.

“Tactical interrogation is ongoing to locate the source of illegal drugs, links and accomplices of the suspects for follow-up operation,” the BCPO said in the report.

In San Carlos City, police operatives arrested Jocelyn Yaon, 36 years old, in a buy-bust at Barangay 5’s Campo 7.

During the operation at past 5:30 p.m., a poseur-buyer bought P800 worth of suspected shabu from the suspect.

Yaon was also found to possess 12 sachets of suspected shabu, weighing 100 grams, with a standard drug price of P680,000.

The suspects now face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
