The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) has identified “insurgency hotspots” in Negros Occidental.

PRO-6 officer-in-charge Brigadier General Archival Macala said the insurgency hotspots are in the province’s hinterland areas.

He added that the capital, Bacolod City, has no hotspots in terms of uprisings.

“Bacolod has no hotspots and the place is peaceful,” Macala said.

Macala was in Bacolod for the Regional Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council (RJPSCC-6) meeting held at the City Government Center session hall yesterday.

The RJPSCC-6 signed a resolution adopting the declaration of Bacolod as an insurgency-free city.

“I told all the commanders to maintain peace and order in their areas. Dapat ma-feel ng mga tao ang presensiya ng mga kapulisan para sa serbisyong nagkakaisa,” Macala said.

Part of the discussions in the meeting was the insurgency situation in Western Visayas, citing police collective involvement so that the region would be safe and peaceful.

He said that as the communist-terrorist groups are concerned, these have deceived the populace about their idealism intended to collect extortion.

The conduct for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections in October of this year was also discussed./MS, WDJ
