The local business community in Bacolod City is alarmed over the recent incidents of human remains dumping in the locality.

Frank Carbon, chief executive officer of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said in a radio interview over RMN dyHB Bacolod over the weekend, the incidents were “very bad for business.”

Carbon is concerned that the incidents may affect the entry of investors not just in Bacolod, but in the entire Negros Occidental.

He pointed out that the peace and order situation of a locality is a major criteria for investors.

He hopes the local government unit and the city police will not treat the recovery of human remains as “isolated.”

Earlier, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) said it will create a special task force to investigate the recent dumping of remains and severed body parts in the city.

Just last week, three human remains were found separately in the city barangays of Felisa and Cabug.

The BCPO is also not ruling out the possibility that a vigilante group may be operating in the metro./DGB, WDJ
