An unidentified baby boy was rescued after he was abandoned at a sugarcane field at Barangay Poblacion Dos in Negros Occidental’s Sagay City on Friday morning, May 5.
Sagay City police chief, Lt. Colonel Robert Indiape said farm laborers in the area heard a cry at around 6:00 a.m., and discovered the baby wrapped in what they believe was his mother’s clothing.
The baby’s umbilical cord was still attached.
His mother was nowhere to be seen, police said.
A paramedic team and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) responded to the area.
The baby was rushed to Alfredo E. Marañon Memorial District Hospital in the city for medical treatment.
Indiape said several individuals have shown intention of adopting the baby, but he pointed out it will depend on the adoption guidelines by the CSWDO./DGB, WDJ
