The decomposing remains recovered in Bacolod City’s Cabug village on Tuesday night, May 2, have been identified by police.
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, Colonel Noel Aliño said the victim was identified as 43-year-old Radney “Potot” Emplamado, a resident of Barangay Lantad’s Sitio Beranio in Negros Occidental’s Silay City.
Aliño said Emplamado’s remains were positively identified by his mother, Rosemarie, and his live-in partner Lilibeth.
According to statements given by his family, Emplamado disappeared last April 18 after he was allegedly abducted by four unidentified men.
An initial background check on the victim also shows that he had previously served a three-year jail sentence for illegal drugs, but Aliño stated that they are still reconfirming the report.
Emplamado’s remains were immediately buried at the Silay City Public Cemetery.
The victim was also the third to be recovered this week, after two other cadavers were also found inside a drainage system in nearby Barangay Felisa last Sunday, April 30.
Following the string of incidents which included the recovery of severed human body parts over the past few months, the BCPO is now seriously mulling a special investigative task force.
The BCPO is also not ruling out the possibility that a vigilante group may be operating in Bacolod, although they are unable to give out any further details confirming the matter./DGB, WDJ
