WVRAA MEET: Bacolod Tay Tung gymnasts capture 9 golds

Three gymnasts from Bacolod Tay Tung High School took home a total of 12 medals, including nine golds, in the 2023 WVRAA Meet gymnastics event at the ABL Sports Complex in Kalibo, Aklan.

Reaiah Patricia Tan emerged as the bemedaled gymnast for Negros Occidental with six gold medals in the elementary girls’ floor, beam, vault, uneven bars, individual all around and elementary team events.

Meanwhile, Matthea Given Efenio took home two golds and two silver medals, while Jilian Krishna dela Cruz settled for a gold and silver medal for the Negros Occidental squad.

Elsewhere, in Negros Occidental gymnastics, Jeenzxue Cervantes chipped in three golds in elementary boys’ MAG horizontal bar, mushroom and floor exercise events, while Gavhien Cervantes had a gold in the secondary girls’ vault along with two bronzes.

Bianca Isabelle Celis also delivered for Team Negros Occidental with a gold medal in the secondary girls’ rhythmic gymnastics ropes and two silver medals in the ropes and ball events.

Shaylo Tingzon and Lianne Ong finished with gold and bronze medals in elementary girls’ WAG balance beam before they reciprocated with a gold and bronze finish in uneven bars. Ong also grabbed a gold in floor exercise.

Precious Angel Villaruz notched two golds in elementary girls’ freehand and rope events, while Sarah Lee Hompson and Clent Marie Manalo had gold-bronze, ending in secondary girls’ WAG uneven bars.

Other gold medal winners for Negros gymnasts were Norman Sereno in secondary boys’ MAG 3 horizontal bar, Gaea Francesca Suguilon in secondary girls’ WAG balance beam and Andrei Vincent Espanola in elementary girls’ vault./ASC, WDJ
