The Negrense labor group General Alliance of Workers Association (GAWA) is seeking a salary hike before the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in Western Visayas (RTWPB-6).
According to GAWA secretary-general Wennie Sancho, there are two wage hike proposals that were forwarded to RTWPB-6.
Their proposal calls for a P100 wage increase and a P150 to P350 salary hike.
According to Sancho, the present wages for workers in the region are insufficient due to the unabated price increases for primary commodities and basic services.
“Kung ma-solbar man lang sang gobyerno ang inflation, waay na [tani] kilanlan nga mangayo ka pa wage increase,” Sancho said.
He added they will file their own manifestations as it has been combined into one petition.
“Ang amon lang ginapangayo sa regional wage board, [they] should act on the spot once they receive the petition,” Sancho said./DGB, WDJ
