Woman nabbed for ‘shoplifting’

A woman was arrested for allegedly shoplifting more than P15,000 worth of grocery items at a supermarket in Negros Occidental’s La Castellana town on Wednesday afternoon, April 26.

Police arrested 54-year-old Gina Perez, a resident of Purok Tunay, Zone 1 in Bacolod City’s Barangay Bata.

Based on information released by the local police, Perez did not carry any bags when she entered the supermarket in Barangay Robles.

As she reached the counter, Perez was carrying a bag, but she only paid for two grocery items.

Upon reaching the exit door, the security guard ordered her to show the contents of the bag.

When Perez failed to present a receipt, the guard immediately called the police, which resulted in her arrest.

Police recovered the grocery items worth P15,704.

Perez is currently detained at the La Castellana Municipal Police Station./DGB, WDJ
