The Negros Occidental Provincial Legal Office (PLO) prepares show cause orders to some personnel of the Rice Processing Center warehouse in Bago City for the alleged disappearance of 789 bags of fertilizer.
PLO head, Atty. Alberto Nellas, Jr. said that he would consult with provincial administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz prior to issuing the show cause orders.
Nellas is yet to confirm how many facility personnel will be held liable over the missing fertilizers.
Previously, those who were allegedly involved were two personnel from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, and three from the provincial government’s Safety and Security Division.
Nellas added that they are not ruling out the possibility that the disappearance of the fertilizer bags was an inside job.
Based on the incident report received by the PLO, the fertilizers were discovered missing after the Cauayan local government unit visited the warehouse to get its share of the fertilizer.
The fertilizer bags, worth P2.3 million, were previously given as a grant by the Department of Agriculture.
The provincial government was responsible for distributing them to the 31 local government units in the province.
An initial investigation also revealed that there were no signs of forced entry into the facility.
The incident is also being probed by the Bago City Police Station./DGB, WDJ
