A motorcycle driver died after he was run over by a truck along Lacson Street in Bacolod City’s Barangay Banago on Saturday, April 15.

Police identified the fatality as John Patrick Biantan, a resident of Talisay City’s Barangay Zone 7.

Traffic investigator, Police Staff Sergeant Richard Dema-ala said, based on their initial investigation, the truck, driven by Ramil Saltillo, tried to execute a left turn at a u-turn slot.

Meanwhile, Biantan was driving his motorcycle fast and hit the rear portion of the truck.

The truck subsequently ran over him.

Biantan was declared dead on the spot as he already had no pulse and was unresponsive.

Saltillo surrendered to police after the incident and issued an apology to the family of the victim.

He said he only heard a loud thud at the back of his vehicle and he did not know that the motorcycle rider was already underneath his truck.

The truck driver said he was willing to face consequences./DGB, WDJ
