An estimated P7 million worth of damage was left by a fire at the Cabacungan Public Market in Negros Occidental’s La Castellana town early yesterday morning.

Fire Marshall Chief Inspector Rodel Legaspi of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Negros Occidental said around 22 market stalls were destroyed in the blaze.

Among those destroyed were eateries, variety and grocery stores, a feeds supply store, and a bakeshop.

No one was hurt in the fire, Legaspi confirmed.

He said the fire started at 1:15 a.m. and ended at almost 3:00 a.m.

They are still investigating the cause of the blaze.

Meanwhile, Negros Occidental 5th district Congressman Emilio Yulo III said they were saddened by the losses caused by the fire as yesterday was supposed to be the town’s market day./With a report from PNA / DGB, WDJ
