Aguillon, Seroy bag 3 golds in Palarong Panlalawigan athletics

Krisha Dedoyco Aguillon and Bianca Juliana Seroy took home four medals, including three golds, in the 2023 Palarong Panlalawigan at the Manuel Torres Sports Center in Negros Occidental’s Bago City.

Aguillon, a standout of the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts athletics team, captured her first two gold medals in the secondary girls’ 100-meter and 200-m dash events.

Aguillon, Seroy, Shaltea Delotavo and Jade Cordova also won a gold medal in the secondary girls’ 4×100-m relay, while Aguillon, Delotavo, Seroy, and April Dealagnon settled for silver in the 4×400-m relay.

Seroy, for her part, also got two gold medals in the secondary girls’ long jump and triple jump, Cordova also added a gold medal in the 100-m hurdles and Delotavo won a bronze medal in the 100-m dash.

It was also a special feat for the Amado Juguan-mentored Thunderbolts’ track and field team as they captured the overall championship in the tournament and will play in the Regional Meet in Aklan later this month.

“I am glad that, after 12 years, Bacolod Tay Tung was able to claim the overall championship in Palarong Panlalawigan secondary athletics,” team manager Jose Montalbo said.

“We will now turn our focus to qualifying for the Palarong Pambansa,” he added.

On the other hand, Mico Villaran bannered the campaign of Team Bacolod with three gold medal hauls in the secondary boys’ 400-m and 110-m hurdles and 200-m dash.

Airex Gabriel Villanueva, for his part, captured two gold medals in the secondary boys’ shot put and discus throw, while Churynthya Tecson finished with a silver medal in the secondary girls’ 100-m dash.

Romarth Isidore Alvior, a Grade 6 student of University of St. La Salle-Bacolod (USLS), took home a gold medal in the elementary boys’ 100-m dash before settling for silver in the 200-m dash.

The USLS-Bacolod athletics team also won a bronze medal in the elementary boys 4×100-m relay behind James Zedric Pontino, Shane Matthew Dilag, Chlyde Miraflores, and Alvior./ASC, WDJ
