A police corporal and two others were stabbed dead while three others were injured in a bar brawl at Barangay Salvacion in Negros Occidental’s Murcia town, early yesterday morning.
Police identified the fatalities as Corporal Gabby Castillo of the province’s La Carlota City; and Benedict Maguad and Marvin Guardavilla, both residents of the said village.
The three wounded were Police Staff Sergeants Namilou Sapuan and Jaytie Misme, and bar owner Fernando Diaz.
The involved police were members of the 2nd Negros Occidental Provincial Maneuver Force Company based in Bago City’s Barangay Dulao.
The suspects were identified as Marjun Gallano, Junjie Gallano and Venus Grace Catbagan.
Murcia town police chief, Major Roel Reclamado, said the cops, who were off-duty at the time, went to the bar for a drinking session.
“There was a commotion outside. They went out to pacify the situation but they were attacked instead,” Reclamado said.
The suspects allegedly first stabbed Guardavilla, which prompted the cops to pacify them.
However, the suspects refused to back down and they stabbed the cops.
The victims sustained stab wounds and were rushed to a hospital in Bacolod City.
Misme sustained a gunshot injury.
A follow-up operation by the municipal police station resulted in the arrest of the three suspects.
The suspects are facing charges of multiple frustrated murder./With a report from PNA / DGB, WDJ
