The Office of the Building Official (OBO) served 20 notices of violation to owners of commercial and residential establishments in Bacolod City.
OBO head Isidro Sun, Jr. said the notices were served in violation of Presidential Decree 1096 or the National Building Code and its implementing rules and regulations, after they discovered that the establishments have no building or occupancy permits.
However, Sun clarified there is no need for them to issue a violation notice if the building is undergoing construction.
The notice was only issued for those who have no intention of securing a permit, the OBO head said.
The OBO will forward this to the City Legal Office for their disposition if the establishment owner still has no action on their part.
Meanwhile, the OBO served the final violation notice and work stoppage order against the owner of a cockpit under construction at Purok Paghida-et in the city’s Barangay Tangub yesterday.
He explained that a grace period was provided for the cockpit owner to process the permit.
The first notice was sent last week.
Sun said the cockpit has no building permit.
Earlier, the city council passed a resolution of no objection (RONO) to the proponent of the proposed cockpit.
However, Sun explained the RONO was not a requirement in securing a building permit./MS, WDJ
