A water expert from University of the Philippines-Los Baños is conducting a two-week study of the Negros Occidental watershed area.
Provincial administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz said the water expert arrived last week.
The studies were conducted in the central part of Negros on a detailed evaluation of the watershed area in San Carlos City, and in the towns of Murcia, Don Salvador Benedicto and Pulupandan.
The provincial government is expected to receive study results which it could use for the future preservation of the province’s fresh water supply.
Diaz said that they are also thankful to the water expert’s presence as valuable insight could also be given into the province’s vulnerability to landslides, floods and droughts./DGB, WDJ
