The fiscal found probable cause to charge two of the three suspects in the illegal gambling raid in Negros Occidental’s Ilog town, which ended with one person dead last week.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office spokesperson, Captain Judesses Catalogo said suspects 25-year-old John Mark Redoble and 63-year-old Samson Tagapan, were charged with violating Presidential Decree No. 1602, after the inquest proceedings earlier this week.
The 16-year-old suspect was acquitted.
Charges of frustrated murder were also filed against the three after they repeatedly stabbed Ilog police chief, Captain Thurslie Castillo.
Castillo managed to survive the attack after he opened fire on the suspects, resulting in the death of the fourth suspect, Abundio Redoble.
The two suspects are detained at the police station, while the minor is under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Last week, Castillo along with several other cops raided an illegal gambling operation after 30 individuals were allegedly playing cara y cruz in the town’s Barangay Dancalan./DGB, WDJ
