A woman was allegedly hammered by her live-in partner at Barangay Punao’s Sitio Talave in Negros Occidental’s San Carlos City on Wednesday afternoon, March 22.
Argenia Barguin, 45 years old, a resident of Sto. Rosario of the city’s Barangay Rizal, suffered injuries to her head.
San Carlos City police said Barguin went to the house of suspect Roberto Gracia, 78 years old, to gather her belongings to move out, leaving her live-in partner.
Gracia tried to make amends with Barguin but she refused.
Angered by the victim’s refusal, Gracia allegedly hit her multiple times on the head using a hammer.
Barguin was rushed to San Carlos City Hospital.
A police follow-up operation resulted in Gracia’s arrest.
Police recovered the hammer allegedly used in the attack.
Gracia is facing charges of violating Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children of 2004.
He is currently detained at the police station./DGB, WDJ
