The business sector in Negros Occidental made an appeal to the public not to widen the current situation in Negros Oriental following the massacre in Pamplona town earlier this month.

Frank Carbon, chief executive officer of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, revealed in an interview with XFM 96.7 Bacolod, that business sectors in the neighboring province have recently got in touch with them regarding the situation.

Carbon confirmed that some members of the sector in Negros Oriental have expressed worry over the effects of the incident on their businesses.

Carbon made an appeal for the public, especially the netizens, to verify the information they are receiving about Negros Oriental.

Earlier this week, around 300 Philippine Army soldiers were assigned to Negros Oriental as part of the ongoing manhunt operations against the suspects of the Pamplona massacre.

However, the Armed Forces of the Philippines clarified that there is no declaration of a martial law or state of emergency in the province, and that the deployment was only part of the government efforts to resolve the violence and to bring lawless elements to justice./DGB, WDJ
