The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City denied the applications of 15 registrants after they allegedly used fake identification cards.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo-Bacolod over the weekend, Atty. Katrina Trinio-Cania, Comelec-Bacolod elections supervisor, said they still do not have the complete data or written resolution from the Elections Registration Board, but initial information confirmed that several applications had been denied.

The applications of 15 registrants were rejected after they presented fake Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) IDs.

Cania said they were able to discover the submitted fake PhilHealth IDs because they looked different and the signature was also different from the original IDs.

She added they will reject PhilHealth IDs if the applicant fails to include his or her PhilHealth Member Data Record.

Meanwhile, 15 others were also caught using grantors who had already maxed out their witnesses.

A grantor is only allowed to witness a maximum of three applicants.

Other applications have been forwarded for ocular inspection by the Comelec./DGB, WDJ
