The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group filed criminal charges against Negros Oriental Third District Representative Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves, Jr. and five others before the Department of Justice yesterday.

The cases were filed in connection to a series of killings which happened in 2019.

Also slapped with murder charges were a certain Hannah Mae, Richard Cuadra, Jasper Tanasan, and Rolando Pinili, and a count of murder against Alex Mayagma.

The charges include the murder of Miguel Dungog, a former member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, at the Siliman University Medical Center in Dumaguete City on March 25, 2019.

Dungog, a former National Bureau of Investigation agent, was supposed to seek reelection in the midterm polls of that year.

Levito Balingod, a private counsel, said the testimonies were provided by individuals whom Teves allegedly paid P50,000 “per project.”

Other incidents of killings were at Sitio Labugon in Negros Oriental’s Basay town and in Bayawan City’s Barangay Malabugas, both in 2019.

Earlier, Teves along with his brother, Pryde Henry, were being linked to the murder of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo and eight others at the governor’s residential compound on Saturday, March 4.

In the video posted on his social media account on Monday, March 6, Teves said that he and his brother would not be the ones who would benefit from Degamo’s death.

He is currently in the United States undergoing stem cell treatment.

It can be recalled that Degamo ousted Pryde Henry in October last year, after the votes of a nuisance candidate were credited in his favor./WDJ
