The remains of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo will be brought to Negros Oriental Provincial Capitol today to allow the public to pay their respects.

Grace Agabon, Negros Oriental Public Information Officer, in an interview with Bombo Radyo-Bacolod, said Degamo’s remains will lie in state at the capitol building in Dumaguete City until Sunday, March 12.

Agabon said the remains will also be transported to the governor’s hometown in Siaton town’s Barangay Bonawon on March 13.

The interment will be announced at a later date.

Agabon stated that Degamo would be buried beside his late parents and sister.

On Saturday, March 4, Degamo along with eight other individuals were killed after his house was attacked by gunmen in Negros Oriental’s Pamplona town.

Degamo was holding a program giving out financial assistance to his constituents during the attack.

Police have already arrested five suspects related to what is now being described as a massacre, while another was killed in a shootout with law enforcement./DGB, WDJ
