Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Benitez said the investigation into alleged corruption in the city government is ongoing.

Benitez said they have issued a lot of show cause and suspension orders to city government employees who are suspected of engaging in corruption.

The primary purpose of the city government’s truth commission was to be able to come up with a system that the city would not be called through the Audit Observation Memorandum (AOM), Benitez said.

An AOM is a written notification to the agency head and concerned offices informing them of deficiencies noted in the audit of accounts, operations or transactions and requiring comments thereto and or submission of documents and other information.

Benitez pointed out the AOM’s aim is to make sure that all city government transactions are above board, transparent and within the standards and procedures of the Commission on Audit.

He further added that if the public sees something irregular, they are free to inform them and they will act on it immediately.

After formally taking office last year, Benitez launched the city’s truth commission which was tasked with finding out any irregularities made by the previous administration./DGB, WDJ
