A father was shot dead in front of his children at Barangay 10’s Hacienda Lopez in Negros Occidental’s Victorias City yesterday morning.

Police identified the fatality as 45-year-old Rodel Castor, a resident of the said place.

City deputy police chief, Captain Genus David said Castor was preparing to bring his kids to school when he was shot by two unidentified gunmen.

David said the kids were unharmed in the shooting and the suspects quickly fled the crime scene.

Castor sustained a gunshot wound at the back of his head and one inside of his body.

Police recovered a fire cartridge and a slug, all belonged to a .45 caliber pistol.

Based on a background check of Castor, he had previously served a prison term for murder at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City. Police believe that Castor’s murder was retaliation connected to his previous crime./DGB, WDJ
