A helper died while five others were hurt following a collision between a refrigerated van and a dump truck at Barangay 5 in Negros Occidental’s Victorias City on Saturday, February 11.

Authorities identified the fatality as Jun Jun Milleza, 19 years old, a resident of the province’s Cadiz City.

Dump truck driver Francis Poral, a resident of the city, and his assistants — Jilson Morgiya, Ireneo Demapanag and Jun Art Advincula, all residents of E.B. Magalona town — and van driver Gimbo Escordial of Cadiz City, sustained minor injuries.

Victorias Police Station Staff Sergeant Fredrick John Muñoz said that Escordial reportedly lost control of his van and fell on its side, then crashed into a dump truck in the other lane.

Poral is currently detained at the police station./WDJ
