A construction worker survived a murder attempt in Bacolod City’s Barangay Taculing on Friday night, February 10.

Police identified the victim as 30-year-old Ranel Tomias, a resident of the barangay’s Purok Tumpok.

Station 6 commander, Captain Dax Santillian said the suspect, whom they have temporarily not identified pending the filing of criminal charges, invited Tomias for a drinking session.

However, Tomias declined the offer, which angered the suspect, prompting him to draw a 9mm firearm and hit the victim.

Santillian said police who happened to be patrolling the area immediately responded, but upon reaching Bangga Pau d’Arco in neighboring Barangay Alijis, they lost sight of the suspect.

Meanwhile, Tomias was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and in stable condition./DGB, WDJ
