A man who slept underneath a truck was crushed to death at Barangay Gargato in Negros Occidental’s Hinigaran town early yesterday morning.

Police identified the fatality as Winston Ballo Samillano, a resident of the village’s Sitio Ambacan.

Traffic investigators said Samillano was sleeping under a 10-wheeler truck when it was moved by the driver, 32-year-old Roberto Bernardo Tagabuhin, Jr.

The truck then accidentally crushed Samillano’s head, killing him on the spot.

Police also noted that Samillano may be suffering from a mental illness. A day prior to the accident, he was detained after he allegedly hit a teacher.

Tagabuhin is temporarily placed under police custody./DGB, WDJ
