Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Benitez hopes that the next Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director will be a native of Bacolod.
Concurrent BCPO director, Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir is due to retire in May of this year.
Although Martir’s retirement is still far away, Benitez said in a radio interview with Bombo Radyo Bacolod that there are several names already being floated as Martir’s possible successor.
Some of them have already met Benitez recently.
According to the mayor, having a native city police director would be highly advantageous as he or she would already have an idea of the city’s landscape.
However, Benitez said he is still open to choices as he would receive guidance from the headquarters of the Philippine National Police.
He has yet to receive the final shortlist as to who would succeed Martir./DGB, WDJ
