An estimated P3.4 million worth of suspected shabu was seized following a drug buy-bust operation in Bacolod City’s Barangay 10 on Saturday, February 4.
The seized narcotic is currently the biggest this year.
Authorities arrested Noel Palacios, a resident of the city’s Barangay 3.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Negros Occidental seized several sachets and plastic bags containing suspected shabu.
The illicit substance was estimated to weigh around 500 grams.
In a radio interview over the weekend, Palacios said he was approached by “Moises,” and asked him if he would like to earn some extra cash.
Palacios said he accepted the offer and “Moises” handed over the packages and P5,000 in cash so he could buy milk for his child.
He admitted that he was aware that the packages contained suspected illegal drugs, but he didn’t know exactly the weight and value of the illicit substance that he was going to deliver.
Palacios is facing charges related to Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./DGB, WDJ
