San Miguel Beermen rolled to its second straight win in the 2022-2023 PBA Governors’ Cup after a 105-86 rout of Blackwater Bossing at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City yesterday.
Ilonggo Jericho Cruz spearheaded the offense with 22 points, including three outside shots, while import Cameron Clark added 20 markers and nine rebounds as the Beermen improved to 2-0.
June Mar Fajardo registered double-double 17 points and 16 rebounds, while Jaymar Perez and Marcio Lassiter added 14 and 13 markers, respectively, for the Beermen.
The Beermen scored their second straight lopsided victory despite the absence of their other key players Terrence Romeo, Vic Manuel and Robbie Herndon due to various injuries, but made the Beermen’s presence felt right in the opening quarter behind conversions from Fajardo, Perez and Lassiter as they quickly established a 33-24 advantage.
San Miguel Beer continued its dominance in the second quarter behind the hot hands of Cruz and inside conversions from Fajardo and Clark as the lead swelled to 63-35 at the half.
The Bossing showed some life in the third quarter as they trimmed the deficit to as low as 13 points, but the Beermen got their acts together in the fourth quarter to preserve the win.
Shawn Glover had double-double 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Joshua Torralba and RK Ilagan added 11 and 10 markers, respectively, as the Bossing dropped to 1-2./ASC, WDJ
